Upgrade Your Guest Bedroom

Recently this guest bedroom made its debut in the Houston Chronicle! Yes — we fancy!! Anywho, the reviews of the room have been amazing, but I felt l needed to share how you too can achieve an elevated space, but on a budget! SO, I repeat, if you have more than ONE piece of brown furniture in a single space. Stop and Let’s Work now! You deserve better!

Safety first, DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT block a window with a headboard. It is a safety hazard! God forbid an emergency and you need an exit out of that window. Now that we have that out the way let’s get into this headboard. It’s a room divider from Crate and Barrel! Gasp for air and now I bet you can’t unsee it. I’ll even share the link ;). I saw it and knew it could give me the hospitality vibe I wanted to continue in his home. To elevate the divider I had my carpenter take it apart and smooth the edges from the henges. Then have my painter paint over the nude cane with Blackish, by Clare Paint. Ta-Da you have this fabulous headboard for a FRACTION of the cost.

Yep, double take again! With the RIGHT hardware, it took this piece from okay to HELLO. Don’t sleep on hardware and lighting. They can truly make or break your space.

I say all this to say quit playing yourself and hire us as your designer. With a decent budget—emphasis on DECENT!

I didn’t stop there and had to continue this budget friendly design journey with a good ol’ IKEA Hack. Now don’t sleep on them. I’ve used IKEA so much I should be an influencer for them AND you wouldn’t believe it’s from IKEA. I like to call it “elevated IKEA” and mine are a great mix of a low & high. Like this nightstand.

As I’ve grown in design so has my taste in window coverings. All windows need covering, but not necessarily drapes/curtains. Roman Shades are so elegant and still get the job done with less fabric —;) I say all this to say, quit playing yourself and hire us as your designer.
